We had a few teaching opportunities this week, but not too many. We haven't done too much finding per se, but we have talked to people on the street, and we have been visiting members and less-actives trying to get referrals. Mostly our service has just been mowing lawns, which is awful because everything is so dry and dead, and it is really windy in the Wellington area.
Elder Wenke and I are getting along pretty well. We had dinner with the Fale's yesterday. It was funny trying to get back into the Tongan culture again. They are a good family. We have a few more dinner appointments this week.
Nah, Waitangi (New Zealand holiday) is kind of lame as a missionary. It just means no one is home. Luckily it was on Friday though.
The new area is good. We just need to buckle down and go to work, and set up some good appointments. Yes, I have started to get to know more people. Almost all of the YSA were gone this week for the YSA conference up in Auckland though.
We just had the Hudson’s at our District Meeting, and we had the opportunity to freshen up on our “How to Begin Teaching” and other skills in Chapter 10 of PMG. We also had Stake Conference this weekend. It was the Stake President's first Stake Conference, and the Hudson’s, Elder and Sister Thompson, an Area Seventy, and also President (Sid Going of the All Blacks) and Sister Going from the Hamilton Temple were all there. There were some really great talks and Elder Thompson has a really good sense of humor. The major theme for the Saturday Night session was Councils in the Church. "Even if we are single individuals, we all talk to ourselves sometimes, so we are all members of councils."
We also had an opportunity to take a member of our ward with us on a visit. He was also a missionary in the Wellington mission, and he finished in Gore the transfer I started in Alexandra, which is pretty cool. He knows most of my companions that have finished their missions.
Oh, and there was also a murder up the road from us last Thursday. We were with Brother Palemene on Trade off night, and saw all the cops (like 20+ cars and undercover cops) so we went to go see what happened. When he heard there was a gun involved, Brother Palemene made us leave. Still not really sure what happened, but the cops still have a crime scene investigation going on. Cool huh?
