This upcoming week is a transfer week and Elder Paulson will be moving to Waimate. He’s also been assigned a new companion.
The sister he and his current companion have been working with is trying to quit smoking so she can be baptized, and doesn’t want to swap one addiction for another (like gum chewing or candy sucking), so Elder Paulson challenged her to swap smoking with praying. “She seemed to like that.”
Elder Paulson likes the catch phrase used for the 9/11 Memorial, and feels it applies to missionary work. “It is ‘In Darkness We Shine Brightest’ or something like that. But it is true. We can be just as bright as we are at home, surrounded by other testimonies, but out where there is no light, or a lot of darkness, it makes our testimony even brighter in contrast. Pretty neat to think about. Or like the mission rule of always driving with the lights on. You don’t notice in the day as much when it is light out, but at night, that is all that you can see by.”
