Elder Paulson’s doing great! Here are some of the highlights of our email this week::
Caleb got his New Zealand drivers license almost as soon as he arrived at the mission office, and has already been able to drive from one town to another (other side of the car and road than he’s used to). They have a limited amount of kilometers each month, so he’ll be on a bike and in a car
He really didn’t spend a lot of time in the mission office, for an orientation and dinner only, he then stayed the night with some Zone Leaders
Going to his first area, the first flight was delayed due to fog, and the connecting flight was cancelled. Luckily he was with another Elder and they were able to contact the mission office who sent the Zone Leaders in Christchurch to pick them up (about two hours later, good thing Caleb has plenty of experience spending hours on end in airports). They got to be “Assistant Zone Leaders” for the day, an unexpected experience which he says is pretty interesting during transfers
The next day Caleb flew into Queenstown, a touristy town, which reminds him a lot of Park City, since it’s basically a skiing town. After lunch, he went to his new area, Alexandra, where there is a “developing unit" smaller than a branch
Caleb’s new companion is Elder Langi, who is from Tonga, and is older (24 or 25).
The New Zealand Wellington Mission blog is finally updated too! It looks like it’s only updated on Sunday’s once or twice a month. There are some photos of Caleb and a little info about the “largest intake” on record. It took three vans, three trailers and two cars to move this group from the airport to the mission office.
